    SAFEPOST, ‘Reuse and development of Security Knowledge assets for International Postal supply chains’, is a four year Integration project addressing the FP7-SEC-2011.2.4- 1 International Postal Supply Chains. The project started on the 1st April 2012

    SAFEPOST will be aimed at establishing sustainable ‘total’ postal security solutions encompassing organisational, process, technological, human factors and training perspectives. 

    The focus will be on an innovative targeting and screening solution coupled to advanced information processing and operational optimisation capabilities in a cooperative European distributed model.

    In our research project we deal with the reconstruction of the anatomy of a region of the molecular signaling network concerning especially the G0 – G1 transition of the cell cycle. This phase transition is of crucial importance for the decision a cell takes, to stay quiescent or enter the process of cell growth and division.

    One of the most exciting discoveries in neurosciences over the last few years has been that of a mechanism that directly ties perception and action: the mirror mechanism. More recently, it has been shown that neurons endowed with the mirror mechanism- mirror neurons- are organized in motor chains and that this chains may underlie the capacity to understand both the goal of motor acts and the intention behind them.

    Visually impaired people meet many difficulties in everyday life, due to a limited control of the environment. This project is about studying computer vision aids to improve their sense of inclusion --- they may feel uncomfortable because, in the absence of an audio feedback (or in case of very noisy environments), they find it difficult to perceive the presence of other people. Also they may feel not confident about the way they appear.

    The aim of the project is to give clinicians a comprehensive view of a child's health by vertically integrating biomedical data, information and knowledge that spans the entire spectrum from imaging to genetic to clinical and epidemiological data.

    The project addresses image analysis problems in the areas of Medicine and Architecture. A tight link between these two different domains is the use of the same mathematical techniques based on Regularization Theory and recent advances in Statistics.

    KerMIT concerns the development of algorithms and software for the classification, clustering, ranking and filtering, both in an online and offline setting, of digital documents.

    Recent developments in techniques for modelling, digitizing and visualizing 3D shapes has led to an explosion in the number of available 3D models on the Internet and in domain-specific databases. This has led to the development of 3D shape retrieval systems that, given a query object, retrieve similar 3D objects.

    Research contract with the company  Gigavision srl within the research activities of a Programma Operativo Regionale POR-FESR (2007-2013).

    The purpose of the contract is to participate to industrial research for designing computer vision and machine learning methods to go directly on board of a mega-pixel videocamera. FPGA and DSP technologies are employed.

    The aim of the VIT project is the development of innovative technologies for automatic and secure handling of containers and swap bodies for intermodal shipment, primarily functional to the Metrocargo project. In particular the VIT project will address the two critical problems that are still open in Metrocargo: (i) to visually identify the containers corner fittings where the lifting equipment needs to operate; (ii)to assure the general safety and security of the operations of an intermodal terminal.
