| Description: |
My interests are in the fields of Computer Vision and Statistical Learning. In particular my research activity includes
-
theory and algorithms for classification, feature selection and unlabeled data analysis.
-
study and development of methods for object detection and recognition in images and image sequences and modeling of complex dynamic events
-
analysis and development of applications in the fields of video-surveillance, biometrics and computer vision for Entry Descent and Landing (EDL).
Currently I am research coordinator of two funded technology transfer programs, with Thales Alenia Space spa and Gigavision srl.
I teach Computer Vision for the First Degree and Master Degree courses in Computer Science at Università degli Studi di Genova. Recently I held two PhD courses on theory and applications of Statistical Learning: Dottorato Europeo in Tecnologie dell’Informazione, ARCES, Università di Bologna (2007) and Dottorato in ''Scienze e Tecnologie per l'Informazione e la Conoscenza" Università degli Studi di Genova (2008, 2009,2010), the latter with Lorenzo Rosasco.
At present I am supervising two PhD students: Giovanni Fusco and Luca Zini, both sponsored by a Regione Liguria research grant.
Research keywords: computer vision, learning algorithms, object detection, behavior understanding, feature selection, video-surveillance. |
